Sabado Film Festival
“Movies can and do have tremendous influence in shaping young lives” - these are the still-famous words of Walt Disney. Cinema may be the most popular component of contemporary art. It reflects and responds to all facets of public life—from history and culture to psychology and social issues.
Cinema reshapes society and human mentality. This was true when the “The Magnificent Seven” changed Soviet Georgia, and it was true when Milos Forman’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest” became one of the most cult films about freedom. It remains true in the worlds of Marvel and DC today.
Sabado hosts a special program. For five days we will watch and discuss films, examine cinematic art, and explore how cinema is made. We will engage with topics such as the evolution of Hollywood from Charlie Chaplin to Marvel, the significance of cinema in totalitarian societies, the animation movie, and the history and present of Georgian cinema.
Our guests will help us understand and study all of this. The Sabado cinema hall and the entire campus will be dedicated to the film festival. As always, this event will include plenty of entertainment, activities, and a friendly atmosphere.
